Holiday Shopping Timeline

The last couple of years, it’s become apparent that the holiday season has been getting longer and longer. At this rate, we’ve started seeing Halloween decor starting as early as mid-July. Let’s take a deeper dive into this timeline, so you can prepare yourselves for the crazy holiday season early next year:

A timeline of the important dates for the holiday retail season

Here are the key important dates for you to remember in this edition of Tips for Tenants:

  • Mid-July: Fall and Halloween decor have been appearing on shelves. This could be due to trying to diminish past years stocks, but we’re seeing a rise in decor sales during this time.
  • September: 25% of consumers start their holiday shopping
  • September – October: We begin to see the “Christmas” Creep. This is where our Christmas and holiday decor jumps before a few other holidays, namely Halloween and Thanksgiving, and starts to enter your shopping aisles.
  • October: Another 25% of consumers kick off their shopping and we see big sales begin to launch
  • October 31: Christmas/Holiday products and marketing are in full swing
  • Friday, November 24th, and Saturday, November 25th: Black Friday and Small Business Saturday! Get your sales ready
  • Saturday, December, 16th and Thursday, December 21st: The two predicted busiest last minute shopper days of the season

Keep this schedule in mind as you plan future promotions and events.
